May is such an exciting month in the garden, there are so many seeds that can be sown its best to visit the garden centre to choose, early May is the best time to choose for outdoor sowing.

Keep on top of the weed control, spray stubborn weeds with weed killers, seek advice before you use them for the first time. Hoeing is still the best method of controlling weeds, try using a Swoe, a three bladed hoe, Joseph Bentley Tools traditional range.
Lawns will be ready for a dressing of lawn care, we recommend Scotts evergreen, triple action lawn food, weed killer and moss control in one application.

Start to lower your cut on the lawn mower, don’t go from the top cut to the bottom cut in one go, do it in stages. Don’t forget to edge the lawn with long handled shears, this finishes off the lawn and gives it definition.
Check all plants, flower, fruit and Veg for pests and diseases. Treat with appropriate methods. If you are not sure what to do or use ask us at the garden centre.

Collect water from green house roofs and houses for use in dry weather.
In early May start off your hanging baskets and patio planters or buy a ready made one, order it early though.
Watch out for late frosts.
