Plant up flower borders winter colour, pansies and violas and the favourite for the time of year,flowering whenever we get a break in the weather. If you havent refilled your hanging basket,we have a great selection of plants for winter colour or if you havent the time choose one of our ready filled baskets or planters .

Herbs can be used to great effect in winter planters and baskets and dont forget you have a source of fresh herbs, readily available checkout our great selection.

It is still a good time to plant trees,shrubs and many perennial plants in preperation for the coming year.

Hedges are ready for their final cut or prune. A good set of tree loppers or shears makes the job a lot easier. Prune climbing roses to reduce the bulk of the plants,ready for any winter storms.

As the month progresses rain will be more frequent,make sure your planters are slightly lifted from the ground help with draining excess water away.

Harvest and store apples but, only store ones that are unblemished or damaged. Many varieties  of apples develop their flavour when in storage. Apples such as James Grieve should be eaten as soon as possible.

Make sure falling leaves are cleared away on a regular basis,this will help prevent pest and disease surviving over winter. Compost the leaves and uses as a mulch in spring.
